As part of the Spring 2010 PARLab funding cycle, UArts faculty member JENNIFER GOETTNER is working with Andrew Dahlgren to explore the field of craft manufacturing. They have been focusing on the processes and products associated with the knitting industry with the goals of better understanding and documenting locally sourced materials, tools, equipment, people, consumer products, and markets; and proposing potential alliances within Philadelphia between farmers, craftspeople, designers, and merchants. While interviewing organizations and individuals directly involved in the industry, they have also been documenting the current partners, connections, and related projects. A current update of their work is available at parlab.uarts.edu or www.phillyknits.phillyworks.net
